The Acer Predator X32 X3 has the brand’s distinct aesthetic that has set it apart from its competitors over the years. The monitor has a clean matte black finish and some gunmetal accents, making it look cleaner and more sophisticated than its competitors. The screen has a bezel-free design, but it still has inner borders like most models.
This is a large monitor despite being somewhat in the middle of the pack when it comes to screen diagonal width. You will need about a foot of depth for it on your desk, so be sure to make way for it before purchasing it. It’s not too heavy for a 32-inch model, but care is still necessary to avoid damage to the fragile panel.
The Acer Predator X32 X3 is lighter than its competitors, but its build quality doesn’t lose solidity. The plastic panels used are thick and sturdy, and there were no cosmetic defects on any of their parts. The stand has a slight wobble if you nudge it, but the screen stays upright for the most part.
The monitor’s control layout is behind a centrally located joystick on the bottom bezel. We like that you don’t have to reach in too much to get to it, so you can easily adjust something on the fly. Other monitors include remotes, but those are not always necessary in our opinion.
The included stand offers tilt, swivel, and height adjustments for your comfort and convenience. Pivoting wasn’t included simply because this monitor was not intended to be used as a secondary screen. You can use VESA mounts, but that only becomes necessary if you need to save space on your table.
The Acer Predator X32 X3’s connectivity layout includes DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 slots, and a 90-watt USB-C port with DP Alt Mode. There is another USB-C port for data, and four other USB 3.2 slots for peripherals. You also get a 3.5mm jack for headphones to complete the I/O roundup.
There is also a pair of 5-watt speakers on the monitor for your basic audio needs. They are clearer and louder than your typical built-in set, but still lack the range and bass response of a desktop pair. It is nice to have a usable add-on, but we still prefer headsets for better immersion and focus.
Display and Performance
The Acer Predator X32 X3 sports a 32-inch OLED panel with a 3840 x 2160 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms response time. It has a brightness rating of 275 cd/m2 and a 1000 cd/m2 peak, along with a 1500000:1 contrast ratio. This model is capable of a dual-resolution output, meaning you can flip its 4K 240Hz output to 1080p 480Hz for more speed at the expense of eye candy.
4K at higher refresh rates has been the dream for many gamers for quite a while now, but 1080p still has its merits. It’s easier to get higher refresh rates on it, and it’s still a universally recognized format for Esports. OLED monitors are expensive, but if it can cover more genres of gaming like these dual resolution models, then we’re sold.
The Acer Predator X32 X3 covered more than 100% sRGB and 95% of DCI-P3 for stunning color in games and movies. Its default accuracy had a deltaE average of 2.88, so it’s not tuned to its full potential from the factory. However, most users won’t need to calibrate it the right way since it already looks decent out of the box.
Calibrating it reduced the dE average to 0.8, making it accurate and usable for color-critical work. The downside is that you will need a colorimeter to achieve the same results, and those can be expensive. We can only recommend it if you will use the monitor for work or business, but it’s impractical for gaming only.
The OLED panel in this monitor gets up to 384 cd/m2 in SDR with a peak of 1011 cd/m2 in HDR. Its contrast is incalculable, just like with other OLEDs, to provide true and deep black luminance. This is one of the biggest advantages of OLED panels over IPS and VA, especially in HDR applications.
Its pixel response time is also excellent since there is no backlight to wait for during transitions. Fast-paced games with highly contrasting transitions are free on both resolution and refresh rate modes. This quality makes the monitor a must-have for gamers who play both competitive and immersive titles.
The Acer Predator X32 X3 is compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync for stuttering and tearing-free gaming. It’s nice to have the option to use VRR as needed, even if you switch to the other GPU brand. Its input lag sits at 2ms at its maximum speed, so games will feel on the dot all the time.
Thoughts on the Acer Predator X32 X3
The Acer Predator X32 X3 is a fantastic choice if you want a multi-purpose display that offers fantastic imagery. Its colors and contrast were fantastic, and the dual resolution output is a very big bonus that all gaming monitors should have. It’s not as flashy as its competitors, but it’s built well with all the necessary features a modern product should have.
The only issue we see here is the higher price at launch compared to the current dual-resolution monitors we have now. However, once its SRP comes down a bit and normalizes with the market, then it would be a fantastic buy.
