With the dawn of technologies such as FreeSync, G-SYNC, 4K and curved panels, there are a lot of rapid changes in the PC monitor market today. With the market evolving at such a pace, costs have become somewhat of an issue for the customers who want to use the latest and greatest in visual technology. Thi is where the Nexus NX-VUE24A steps in; offering a fast 144Hz TN panel and AMD’s FreeSync support at a price that’s so reasonable that it slashes the competition by a significant amount.

In this review, we are going to take a quick look at the technical aspects, and what this monitor has to offer.

Monitor Specifications

The Nixeus NX-VUE24A is a 24-inch, LED-backlit monitor that is built on a TN Panel design and offers a Refresh rate of 144Hz. The GTG Response time on this display is 1ms.

The monitor design is pretty basic and has no tacky acrylic, faux chrome bezels. The focus is given on the strength and functionality of design instead of looks. This monitor also has two inbuilt Stereo Speakers.

The native resolution of the monitor is 1920×1080 Pixels, and the Color Depth value is 16.7 million, offering 16.7 million true life colors with a Color Gamut of 72%. There is an OSD (On Screen Display) menu for monitor calibration.

The Nixeus NX-VUE24A comes with a 100mm x 100mm VESA mounting capability.

When it came out, the NX-VUE24A was the world’s first Full-HD 144Hz gaming monitor that was certified with AMD’s FreeSync technology.

The monitor comes with a three-year warranty.

Image Output

For a 24-inch monitor, a native resolution of 1080P is pretty basic. This monitor might not have the capability to produce 1 billion colors, but the AMD FreeSync and a Refresh rate of 144Hz are huge selling points. This is a monitor that feels very snappy to use, boots up quick and handles data processing with a high Frame rate. For gamers, the motion fluidity that the FreeSync provides, coupled with the 144Hz, produces an unparalleled output. The FreeSync is a boon for gamers who use AMD supported graphic cards. Provided that you have a Radeon GPU that can feed more than 60FPS to the NX-VUE24A monitor, a massive uptick in output quality can be observed on this monitor as compared to the ones that don’t use FreeSync. This display has a Stuttering-free, “FreeSync refresh rate zone” of 30-144Hz.

The Color depth that this display uses is 16.7 million sRGB true life colors, which is a good amount. This is accompanied by a color Gamut of 72%. Considering that the GTG Response time is 1ms, any ghosting during motion Gaming is reduced to almost a negligible amount. This also lowers any Input Lag, and as a result, there is no flickering during motion gaming and media accessing.

Drawbacks

Viewing

Thanks to the 144Hz Refresh rate, the motion blur is minimal. The Color uniformity and is right in line with most HD gaming screens and no Color shifts can be noticed anywhere on the NX-VUE24A. The brightness is typical at 300cd/m2. There is no glare or problematic spikes in values when viewing content on the display. Additionally, the On Screen Display menu helps calibrate the monitor output per your need and comfort.

The NX-VUE24A has a Height-adjustable stand (4 inches of height adjustment) with a 90-degree pivot (for enabling portrait mode viewing), a 15° tilt to customize the visual experience. The monitor offers viewing angles of 170° (Horizontal) and 160° (Vertical). NX-VUE24A has a 100mm x 100mm VESA mounting capability, which gives you the flexibility of mounting the display to a wall or a different stand.

One of the reasons the NX-VUE24A is priced at a low cost is the use of a TN Panel. When the viewing angle on this monitor is changed, we can notice a significant light falloff, along with a red shift to the sides of it. Viewing from the top makes the details nearly obliterated, with a visible blue tint on the screen. However, if the screen is viewed head-on at a typical seating distance of 24-40 inches, there are no problems in the viewing department.

Drawbacks

Connectivity

Some G-SYNC monitors offer a very narrow range of input. Connectivity is made easy on this gaming powerhouse, and it is just a refreshing thing to see in HD monitors! On the back from left to right, the NX-VUE24A has a DVI-D port, the single HDMI 1.4, a 1.2 DisplayPort and a VGA port. It also offers a standard Audio Jack (3.5mm).

Drawbacks

Conclusion

With a lot of monitors that offer IPS technology or additional features on a 144Hz operating capacity, priced at around $320, the Nixeus NX-VUE24A is still a catch. This is a monitor that makes up for it’s a simple design with functionality, it’s typical specifications with the FreeSync, and it’s lack of wide viewing angle with a lot of adjustment options. Lots of input ports is a breath of fresh air, and depending on where you buy it from, the price fluctuates a lot too. All-in-all, the Nixeus NX-VUE24A is a no frill, output-oriented, HD Gaming Monitor that is available at a price that is not only reasonable but is a bargain.
