The Samsung C27H580 is the latest curved mix-use monitor which follows in the footsteps of the C27F591 which is one of the excellent all-rounders we have seen last year. This latest iteration sports a few minor changes at a glance, but was excited to find out if there are any actual improvements in performance or are we only getting a refresh?

Design and Features
The Samsung C27H580 derives its attractive exterior from the C27F591 which is already one of the most beautiful curved monitors we have seen last year. The company went with a glossy dark blue hue instead of the white and aluminum combo this time around which gives the slim profile of the C27H580 a refreshing update.
The three-side bezel-free design from Samsung’s latest products also applies to the C27H580, giving users an unobstructed view of the 27-inch screen. The Samsung C27H580 most probably fits into the mid-range home and office monitor bracket, but its curves and lines give it a bespoke treatment which makes it suitable for an executive’s desk or a posh home.
The company also applies their single-arm stand design for the Samsung C27H580, and while it does look good we suspect that it will still wobble with a decent amount of force. Although, there isn’t anything to worry about if you are setting your sights on this aesthetically pleasing product since the company behind it is known for pioneering reliability.
You only get tilt for ergonomics in this latest iteration, but that limitation should indicate an affordable price bracket in the future. Also, you won’t really need a lot of fancy flexibility to get a suitable view angle from a 27-inch panel with a tighter than most curve.
What we do hate about the C27H580, however, it’s rather lacking I/O layout (based on preliminary spec sheets). On of the Korean tech giant’s region specific websites, the listed specs only include an HDMI port and D-Sub connector plus audio pass-through jacks. In this day and age, we would like to think that these aspects should be as complete as they can be, especially for something who hints at a touch of modernity.
On the contrary, we found information that the C27H580 will include a DisplayPort slot. It’s not important to retain this feature, however, since HDMI 1.4 is more than adequate for what this model brings to the table.
Display and Performance
The Samsung C27H580 sports a 1920 x 1080 Vertical Alignment panel which sits at 27 inches. You also only get a typical 60Hz refresh limit, but we have read some reports that you can operate this screen at rates of up to 72Hz. These aren’t cutting edge by any means, but our experience with VA panels and their inexpensive nature is almost always positive.
72Hz isn’t a lot for competitive gaming, especially if you consider that VA panels will always have slower pixel white to black transitions than the other variants. What these facts mean in practice is you might experience blurs and ghosting in swift frame flows, although how bad or unnoticeable still heavily depends on manufacturer control and implementation.
You also receive AMD’s Freesync with the C27H580, which a welcome addition to any product, even those with tiny hints of a gaming pedigree. This iteration can keep frames smooth and hassle-free at a range of 48Hz to 72Hz.
If you can live with VA’s limitations, it is your best option for a mix of contrast and vibrancy. The Samsung C27H580 boasts an 119% sRGB gamut range, plus you can also enjoy 88% sRGB and 80% NTSC 1976 standard coverage. These results are made possible thanks to the true 8-bit color interface.
Unfortunately, we cannot comment on the Samsung C27H580’s real-world performance at this time. If we do get a sample unit once it becomes available, we will put it through its paces and test it as we normally would. But if you want to know more, a good performance basis would be the C27F591 since these two products are most probably heavily related.
Thoughts
The Samsung C27H580 looks refreshing with its blue tone and bezel-free face, making it an easy buy for minimalist fans, or to be more accurate, almost everyone who cares about their monitor’s looks. Who doesn’t want a slim but curvaceous figure on their desk?
We have yet to rate the Samsung C27H580 since it does include promising capabilities at the expense of some deal-breaking limitations such as the lacking I/O slate. We’re waiting for availability and pricing for concerned regions, so we’re waiting until then to comment in this regard.
We’re estimating a $300.00 price tag at release, which is acceptable for something that offers a slice of professional capabilities thanks to its ratings in gamut coverage. But if it goes any lower by a sizeable chunk, then we would readily tag the Samsung C27H580 as a must have.
