HP Omen 27i – 27-inch 165Hz QHD Nano IPS Gaming Monitor

Check Availability on Amazon

The HP Omen 27i was recently launched by the brand’s Omen division along with several other gaming PCs and accessories to match. This particularly interesting monitor updates HP’s gaming display portfolio with Nano IPS technology which is capable of greater color quality and contrast. HP reps mentioned that the Omen 27i provides “deeper hues and more accurate colors with a 25% wider color gamut than sRGB and largely nullifies color degradation from shallower angles”.

What’s interesting about the HP Omen 27i is it uses an LG Nano IPS module with the same characteristics as the one found on the popular LG 27GL850. That particular variant has enjoyed fantastic success in the market thanks to its very accurate color rendering and superb gaming performance. It’s safe to assume that we can expect the same results in real-world tests and usage.

The HP Omen 27i has a noticeably sleeker design than its counterparts starting with the thin chassis and the minimalist metal stand. You can tilt, swivel, pivot, and adjust the height of the display, so getting the perfect view angle is easily doable. This model is also VESA compatible, but that’s only necessary if you have to save space or planning on building a multi-display setup.

The HP Omen 27i has an understated look, but we like it that way since it doesn’t look overbearing and is easy to match with most themed setups. The diamond-shaped bulge at the rear also hides RGB LEDs which you can control via the new Omen Command Centre app. We’re not yet sure how bright the lighting feature is, but it looks like it will make the readily exposed ports easier to see in the dark while adding a gentle glow on your setup.

Another advantage you can enjoy with the HP Omen 27i is it’s compatible with both FreeSync and G-Sync so it will not lock you to one GPU brand. Buying a gaming monitor like this is wise since you are practically free to choose during upgrade cycles. Being limited to G-Sync compatible mode also has its benefits because you don’t have to deal with the connectivity restrictions of the exclusive control module it requires.

The HP Omen 27i is already starting to hit retailers this month and is scheduled to become available on HP’s official site by May 22. This promising new model will release with an SRP of $499.99 but we’re expecting that to drop as soon as stocks normalize and spread out. The HP Omen 27i is initially only available for purchase in the US market, but more details for other regions are forthcoming.
