The Acer PE320QK is a premium 4K monitor which provides stunningly crisp and detailed images with accuracy and vibrancy via its massive screen. Aside from the promised excellence in image reproduction, this product will also include Acer’s HDR Xpert technology which provides a degree of compatibility with the highly anticipated color standard.  Aside from stellar specs, the Acer PE320QK can be paired with larger and more powerful laptops and notebooks via its USB-C port.

Acer PE320QK Specifications

Design and Features

The Acer PE320QK features a bold and modernist design which comes dressed in matte black for that clean, and dirt resistant look. Thanks to Acer’s Zero frame design, the face is left with thin panel borders which are unnoticeable against such a massive screen. One notable addition is the hood we have seen on BenQ monitors like the SW271 which are meant to help with deflecting glare and preserving the color of the screen.

For the sides, the Acer PE320QK’s cabinet is reasonably thin save for the bulge which is still is within reasonable depth and relatively flat, making it easy to flush mount this display. All of the OSD controls are located on this side as well, but they are accessible on the right-hand side from the front. They were placed here so as not to interfere with the Zero Frame design and to give the product that sexy, clean look.

The included stand matches the aesthetic of the product since it is simplistic but fully functional. Owners get to raise the display up to 4.5 inches and tilt or swivel to get a comfortable view. The mechanism did not include pivoting since the cabinet is too large, so you might need a robust articulated arm to achieve a multi-monitor setup in portrait mode.

Since the Acer PE320QK is a monitor built for productivity, it comes equipped with a superb I/O layout which includes everything you will need. For video input, you can use either the DisplayPort 1.2 or the HDMI-in, plus your peripherals can plug into any of the USB 3.1 ports. But what’s fantastic about the Acer PE320QK is its reversible USB-C slot which can transfer data and transmit data at the same time.

Other monitors failed in implementing this feature simply because the USB-C ports of older products could not provide enough juice for laptops larger than 13 Inches. The Acer PE320QK will soon edge them out with its promised 85 Watts of power delivery which should be enough to charge and power 15-inch MacBooks at the same time. To complete the package, there is a pair of 4-Watt speakers for personal audio enjoyment.

Display and Performance

The Acer PE320QK sports a 32-inch IPS panel with a 3840 x 2160 4K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 4ms response time. This module will use an 8-bit+FRC interface to enable wide gamuts for accurate, and vibrant color. This will allow the screen to cover 130% of the sRGB and 95% of DCI-P3 gamuts matched with a factory calibration that guarantees a DeltaE of less than 1.0, for incredibly lifelike images.

But what caught our attention is the Acer PE320QK’s HDR Xpert technology which, by discerning from the specs, isn’t the true HDR10 compatibility promised by other models. This add-on promises to enhance brightness and contrast to augment its already excellent vibrancy to try and reproduce an HDR output. We are curious how this product will improve its picture since it only has a 350cd/m2 backlight, and no mention of localized dimming.

Combined with a mighty 140 pixels per inch, your art, pictures, and videos will be eye-popping and extra-crisp. This mix is excellent for content creators, but what about gamers? Gaming on a larger, 32-inch screen with a 4K resolution is quite an experience. The current generation of GPUs from Nvidia and AMD are already capable of pushing out smooth frames in UHD, plus the HDMI 2.0 is best used for 4K consoles like the PS4 pro.

If the Acer PE320QK can provide a performance with low-latency, then it would be one of the best professional displays with a hint of gaming monitor prowess in the market. Although in the preliminary specs released, there was no mention of FreeSync so we might not get buttery smooth visuals. This exclusion may not bother casual gamers, but enthusiast buyers might take a rain check and skip this product.

Thoughts on the Acer PE320QK

The Acer PE320QK is a promising professional monitor with the fantastic potential to provide accurate and vibrant outputs for demanding users who want the best for their line of work. Although wide gamut screens are plentiful in the market, the addition of Acer’s HDR Xpert excites us since it could enhance the viewing experience.

The size and resolution also make it an excellent entertainment or casual gaming monitor since 4K media and titles are widespread. On the other hand, modern gaming systems are fully capable rendering titles into that visual fiesta we all crave.
