LG revealed three new monitors that showcase the firm’s latest display tech that could help shape the advancements in the industry. All three will come equipped with a Nano IPS panel that absorbs excess light wavelengths which creates accurate colors and extra vibrancy. LG plans to showcase these new products during the upcoming CES 2018 event in January, giving the world a sneak peek of what these new gadgets can do.
LG 32UK950 – Premium 4K Nano IPS Monitor with HDR and USB-C Thunderbolt 3
The LG 32UK950 aims for meticulous professionals which require comprehensive gamut coverage with stunning color accuracy. The 32-inch Nano IPS panel not only provides a stunning view and a generous work, but it also offers 98% DCI-P3 gamut coverage. The module is then backed by a 600cd/m2 backlight which, when combined with the specs above, brings the output into the HDR10 territory.
There is no word if the LG 32UK950 will come with a FALD backlight, but we can speculate that it will at least offer side-lit zones to help create the HDR effect. This new professional 4K monitor also comes equipped with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, allowing users to dock USB-C devices. This connector allows 5K at 60Hz video, 4K daisy-chaining, plus it can supply 60 Watts of power to a USB-C notebook.
This monitor comes with a signature design that includes the 4-Side Edge Borderless Design which will provide a seemingly infinite view of your content. The stand is a refined variant of LG’s distinct ArcLine stand which comes with improved flexibility and material durability.
LG 34GK950G – QHD G-Sync Gaming Monitor with Nano IPS
There is little known information regarding the LG 34GK950G, but LG’s tradition of adding a G to a model name always means it’s for gaming. This QHD monitor will also include the Korean giant’s Nano IPS technology for stunning vibrancy and accuracy in games. It’s unconfirmed, but we are speculating a native refresh rate of 100Hz or above, pushing this new model past the current 34-inch gaming monitors the market has to offer.
There were no further details from LG’s announcement ahead of CES 2018, but the brand did mention that the LG34GK950G will include G-Sync. This combination is good and all, but will this product’s combination of specs generate enough interest? That remains to be seen at CES.
LG 34WK950U – 5K Ultrawide Professional Monitor with Nano IPS
The LG 34WK950U is perhaps the most interesting product in this new range due to its capabilities. This gorgeous ultrawide monitor comes with a massive 5120 x 2160 resolution which we can call Ultrawide-5K. The massive screen real-estate will cater to content creators and designers who want stunning details and the extra workspace to boost productivity.
Like the LG 32UK950, this gorgeous ultrawide will ship with a Thunderbolt 3 port which is fully capable of transmitting 5K at 60Hwhile charging up your USB-C device. The LG 34WK950U will also showcase the 4-Side Edge Borderless Design of the 32-inch variant for a much more stunning view. Holding the massive device in place will be the redesigned ArcLine stand which is unmistakably from LG which will offer improved ergonomics and durability.
Thoughts on the LG Nano IPS Monitors
We are excited to see how Nano IPS will change the way we see images from a computer or even a gaming console like the Xbox One X when connected to these monitors. As of this time, there is no word on pricing or actual release dates for the LG 32UK950, LG 34WK950U, and the LG34GK950G. However, according to LG News Room, each monitor will have a demo unit at booth #11000 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES 2018.
