Design and Features
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K starts as a regular business monitor, except when you see its special add-ons. The monitor has a matte black finish, so it looks clean and sophisticated, just as any professional monitor should. The screen has a bezel-free design, but it still has inner borders and a thicker bottom strip.
Its dimensions are more conservative than those of its gaming counterparts, so it’s easier to fit into a cramped workstation. It only needs 8.55 inches of depth, so it won’t shove your other peripherals out of the way. At 17.7 pounds, it is heavy for a 27-inch monitor, but it’s still manageable to move around when needed.
Its build quality is great just like it is with most of ViewSonic’s offerings in all price segments. The plastics used are thick and sturdy, so it wont flex or crack with a modest amount of force. The included stand is firm and stable, so the screen won’t sag or wobble while its in use.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K uses buttons for the OSD instead of a more user-friendly joystick. They are labeled, but its still more difficult to manipulate especially in the dark. The upside is it has volume buttons so you can easily tone down or boost it up as needed.
The stand with the package offers tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments for your convenience. It is easy to get a comfortable view without having to worry about the screen sagging or shaking. You can also use VESA mounts, but those only become necessary for a few instances.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K has a plethora of connectivity options to suit your needs. It has DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, and a 90-watt USB-C port for newer devices like MacBooks. You also get an RJ45 LAN port, a USB 3.2 hub, and a 3.5mm jack for networking and peripherals.
What makes the ViewSonic VG2757V-2K special is its pop-up webcam which eliminates the need for extra accessories. The camera isn’t DSLR grade, but its clear enough if there I enough lighting in your room. Its at the top of the display so its out of the way, plus its Windows Hello compatible for easy logins to your PC.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K also has a pair of speakers with 5 watts of power per channel. They are crisp and clear enough for comms but are incapable of full bass like a dedicated set. However, they are considerably better than most built-ins, even if that’s the case.
Display and Performance
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K sports a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 100Hz refresh rate, and a 5ms response time. The backlight has a 350 cd/m2 output, while the contrast is listed at 1300:1. This model doesn’t have HDR certification, but that’s understandable since it’s not designed for games and movies.
1440p is your best bet for both office work and gaming since it upgrades the level of detail without making it too sharp like 4K does. You get more room for productivity, while games and movies look crisper. It doesn’t take a lot of GPU horsepower to get to 100Hz, so you can get by with a modest system.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K covers 99% sRGB and 74% of DCI-P3 which makes it less vibrant than the recent monitors we reviewed. Its deltaE average is only at 1.09, so its already very accurate for a business monitor. Most users don’t need to do anything to it apart from adjusting brightness.
Calibrating the monitor reduced the dE average to 0.61, making it more attractive for editing work and content creation. The downside is that you will need a colorimeter to achieve comparable scores. Those are expensive for most uses, so we recommend sticking with the factory calibration if you don’t need absolute accuracy.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K’s backlight reached 356 cd/m2 at 100%, so it can fight off a decent amount of glare. Its contrast reached 1104:1 at 35% brightness, but it is still incapable of deep blacks like better variants of the panel type. However, that’s a known limitation, so it is acceptable by most standards.
Panel uniformity for the test sample was great since there were no major backlight leaks on its quadrants. There is some variance in the backlight’s spread, but it’s only noticeable against an all-black or dark background. Note that this can vary with every monitor made due to tolerances, so there are worse units out there.
Thanks to its extended refresh rate, the ViewSonic VG2757V-2K has a decent pixel response time. To enjoy this performance, you will need to set its overdrive to the “Extended” level. It’s not the best for fast-paced games, but it’s reasonably good for a business monitor.
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K doesn’t have FreeSync, so G-Sync compatibility is also out of the question. 100Hz 1440p is doable nowadays, but demanding games might change that. Its input lag sits at 5ms at 100Hz, making it smooth and delay-free for gaming.
Thoughts on the ViewSonic VG2757V-2K
The ViewSonic VG2757V-2K is an excellent monitor based on its features and overall performance. You get a conferencing solution with great gaming and imaging capabilities, making it one of the sweetest deals out there. It’s built well, like most ViewSonic monitors, so it should last quite a while until you’re ready to upgrade.
However, we feel that there is some room for improvement here such as the gamut coverage and its lack of adaptive sync. We’re saying that based on its higher price, although its still somewhat acceptable not to have those qualities on a business monitor. It’s a decent pick overall if you need a swiss knife of a monitor for your work setup.
Pros:
- Attractive Features
- 100Hz Low Latency
- Excellent Accuracy
- Built-in Webcam
Cons:
- Pricey
- No VRR
